Comments:
The Wein Cell MRB675 is a 1.35 volt non-mercury battery. It is designed to replace
Mercuric Oxide PX675 and MR44 batteries and is commonly used in cameras and
exposure meters. The Wein Cell MRB675 can be used in the Minolta Hi-Matic
C/G/7sII, Ricoh Hi Color 35/35s, Vivitar 35EF, Minox B/BL, Olympus Pen D3, and
many more.
The WeinCELL MRB675 is a custom zinc/air battery designed to replace banned mercury batteries. Unlike 1.5v alkaline replacements such as the LR44 whose unstable output can produce exposure errors, WeinCELLs deliver the same 1.35 V voltage and stability of output as did the mercury batteries. In contrast to hearing aid batteries which only last 1 month, the WeinCELL MRB675 batteries last much longer, typically nine months and some times up to a year. To achieve this longer life, the MRB675 uses a proprietary electrolyte and has only two small air holes, rather then the 7 larger holes found in standard hearing aid batteries.
To use the WeinCELL MRB675, the adhesive tab must be removed. This allows air to enter the cell. After about 30 minutes, the MRB675 is fully activated and ready for use.
An alternative mercury free replacement for the PX675 is the silver oxide 357 or SR44. These 357 cells produce 1.55V which is higher than the 1.35V produced by the original PX675 mercury cell. Because the 357 silver oxide cell produces a steady 1.55V, you are able to compensate for the higher voltage by a fixed number of stops or by adjusting the ASA setting. There may be as many as two f-stops underexposure by a camera that uses 1.55v instead of the original 1.35v, but the compensation you require is constant.
The "Rolls Royce" mercury free replacement can be used again and again is the MR-44 Adapter which contains micro electronics that drop the voltage from the silver oxide cell to the 1.35 Volts that your camera was designed for. No adjustment or modification to your camera is required. The MR-44 Adapter does not require activation or a supply of air. The MR-44 Adapter and silver oxide 392 cell has a significantly longer battery life than the zinc air WeinCELL MRB675 batteries.
Click on the link for availability of the genuine Mercury cell, the PX675, PX76 or MR44. They are rare and hard to find, but we sometimes have them.
The WeinCELL MRB675 battery is probably the most straight forward solution to replacing the PX675 and it has a shelf life of up to ten years. Why not buy two or more, take advantage of our reduced price and make sure you are not left without a camera next time your battery runs out.
