Comments:
The cylindrical LIR-18650-FT Lithium-Ion cell is among the most popular
size of lithium-ion cells ('18' denotes the diameter and '650' the length in
millimetres and tenth's of a millimetre respectively). It
has become the workhorse for the laptop computer industry. The resultant large
production runs has resulted in low unit prices, high capacity and high quality
cells. Consequently the standard size is now being adopted as the power source
of choice for other portable electronic devices such as cellular phones, digital
cameras, power tools and
many other applications.
Our LIR-18650-FT cells are ideal for battery pack builders, computer laptop repairs, 7.4 volt remote controlled (RC) car battery packs etc.
Our LIR-18650-FT cells have been successfully used to replace exhausted cells in the Tomtom 700 and Tomtom 710. Click here for Ed Chapman's procedure. We had recent confirmation that these LIR18650 cells are suitable for the Tomtom 910, Tomtom 510 and Tomtom 710 too.
STOP PRESS: A TomTom 300, 400, 500, 600, 700 etc. battery, fully made up, is now available here...
The lithium-ion technology used in these cylindrical LIR-18650-FT cell is light-weight and high voltage. It results in significantly higher energy density than NiCd and NiMH batteries.
The lithium-ion technology used in these cylindrical LIR-18650-FT cell has no 'memory-effect'.
This LIR-18650-FT requires the use of protection circuitry to keep the battery from over-charging, over-discharging, or over-heating. You will require knowledge of how to safely charge Li-ion cells. Failure to treat the cell correctly may cause it to become hot, explode or ignite. We cannot be held responsible for damage or injury caused by misuse of Li-Ion batteries.
If you need bare cells for spot welding you should use the LIR18650 cells (bare cells without any factory added solder tags) that are available here...........
